A 26-year-old Passaic man was shot in the neck overnight at a city public housing development, authorities confirmed.
“Evidence of a crime scene was located outside and inside the building” at Speer Village on Aspen Place and State Street just off Route 21 shortly after 1 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman said.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment of the non-fatal wound, Valdes and Guzman said in a brief joint release.
They didn’t say whether anyone in particular was suspected or had been identified.

A 23-year-old Saddle Brook man told police he was carjacked at gunpoint in Passaic late Thursday.
The victim said he was assaulted by more than one person as he got out of the car near the corner of River Drive and Westervelt Place shortly after 11 p.m.
The robbers took his keys and fled with the vehicle, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman said in a brief release Friday.
They didn’t identify the type of vehicle, direction of flight, how many suspects were believed involved or what any of them looked like, saying: More information will be released once it becomes available.

N.J. man arrested, accused of killing his own father

Police arrested a Passaic County man after he allegedly killed his own father Wednesday night, authorities said.
Vincent Sullivan, 49, of Passaic, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, in connection with the death of his 82-year-old father, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a statement. Prosecutors have already filed to detain Sullivan ahead of any trial.
The alleged murder and the arrest unfolded Wednesday night, starting with a call for a welfare check at Sullivan’s home in Passaic, the statement said.
At 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the home on Terhune Avenue after a “concerned party” told police they hadn’t been able to get in touch with the two residents for several days, according to the statement.
