Riot in downtown Portland marks one-year anniversary of George Floyd s murder

Portland police declare riot as violence breaks out at event marking year since Floyd s death

Portland Police Bureau (Update: Five arrests) PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Portland police declared a riot and arrested five people Tuesday night after violence broke out during a gathering on the anniversary of the murder of George Floyd. They set a dumpster fire at the Multnomah County Justice Center, broke windows at City Hall and in downtown businesses, and threw frozen water bottles, eggs and metal spikes at officers. Police cleared the way for firefighters to put out the blazes, and ultimately arrested five people on criminal mischief charges.

Kevin Nash Reacts To Derek Chauvin Verdict

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has reacted to the news of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin being found guilty for the murder of George Floyd. Nash heralded the verdict as “a step in the right direction.” He wrote, “Today’s Verdict is a step in the right direction. Nothing more. This restores that we’re at least past the Rodney King injustice. Last summer had a lasting effect because we stood together. Rest in Power George.” In another tweet, Nash defended the McMahon Family’s political ties, stating that “being a member of the Republican party doesn’t require you to be a racist.”
