And that was what Richard Lee, a photographer, captured.
He shared his photos of a group of eight hornbills to Facebook group Nature Society (Singapore) on July 2, which serve as a reminder that hornbills in the wild do hunt for smaller birds that are not other people s pets. Photo by Richard Lee via Nature Society (Singapore).
According to Lee, the flock perched on a landed property in Old Holland Road.
He identified the birds as Oriental Pied Hornbills. Photo by Richard Lee via Nature Society (Singapore).
A bird in the beak
But what stood out was one particular hornbill that appeared to have another bird in its beak.

Angela Fraleigh brings the work of the Old Masters into the 21st century with gorgeously rendered figures that seemed plucked from classical Western art history, which she paints against colorful abstract backgrounds rife with references to design traditions.
For “Fluttering Still,” her first New York solo show in over a decade, which is on view at Hirschl & Adler Modern, Fraleigh has overlaid elements pulled from turn-of-the-century illustrations by pioneering female designers Ethel Reed and Gerda Wegener atop images of women painted at life size.
Ahead of last month’s opening, we spoke with Fraleigh about her recent inspirations, what she listens to in the studio, and the art-historical research behind her latest works.
A hint of post-lockdown colour as Rutland Open Gardens announces 2021 programme Published: 14:01, 05 February 2021
The National Garden Scheme has given us a tantalising glimpse of more colourful times to come after releasing this year s programme of Rutland open gardens.
Open gardens were restricted to remote viewings online last year because of lockdown and tier restrictions, but a provisional programme was released last week.
There will be 16 gardens opening in Rutland from March to August, starting with Gunthorpe Hall on Tuesday, March 16.
It includes two new venues - the Old Vicarage in Harringworth, and Robin Hill in Uppingham.

Pastoral paintings – at some point, whenever I’m visiting in one – I slowly become aware of this slight smile on my face and then the right side tilt of my head as I begin dreaming of where in the painting I am. After I see myself there, an adventure begins. I find it’s always best to give myself a lot of time for this bit.
