Eddie Tierney, described as an inspiration to many , died on Friday, May 7. He was 80 years old. Eddie, who used to live in Wellington Road in Rhyl, was aged 43 when he had his heart transplant in Harefield Hospital on March 23, 1984. He was first admitted into Glan Clwyd Hospital with a flu virus that attacked his heart. Eddie s wife Phyllis was told at the time he only had six weeks to live. After the transplant, doctors informed his loved ones that Eddie had another five years to live.

NEW BRUNSWICK - The Rutgers flag at Old Queens will be flown at half-staff Wednesday and Thursday in memory of retired biochemistry and microbiology associate professor William Ward.
Ward, a Metuchen resident, died Nov. 3, 2020 of pancreatic cancer following a 42-year career at the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. He retired in January 2020.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rutgers University is taking steps to acknowledge its connection to slavery and racial injustice with the creation of four additional historical markers that tell the story of its early benefactors whose families made their fortunes through the slave economy.
Two of the four markers have a direct link to 18th-century Somerville.
