Mask giveaway in Springfield set for Monday

A free drive-through mask giveaway will take place Monday from noon to 1:30 pm., at the Panache Banquet facility parking lot in Springfield.
The parking lot in the rear of the building on 827 State Street will be the location, according to State Rep. Bud L. Williams, one of several sponsors of the event. The theme is “Because YOUR Life Matters.” High-quality N95 masks will be distributed.

SPRINGFIELD Residents of Springfield’s Old Hill neighborhood were the recipients of holiday cheer Wednesday, courtesy of community activists and leaders.
Families received turkeys, toys and personal protective equipment, courtesy of the Old Hill Neighborhood Council and Friends of The Old Hill Neighborhood Council, state Rep. Bud Williams, The Brethren, Cozy Corner Cafe, Families Against Violence, Robert Jackson, Andrew Cade, Ward 4 City Councilor Malo Brown and Ward 5 City Councilor Marcus Williams.
The distribution took place on Eastern Avenue. Bud Williams said the annual event gives a lift to one of the state’s most struggling low-income neighborhoods and allows residents to know that they are not forgotten within the community.
