A man is dead and a woman is severely injured from a motorcycle crash Thursday, Greensboro police said. The wreck happened just after 11 a.m. on Old Battleground Ave. Gustavo Toledo-Rodriguez, 29, was riding his motorcycle with Grecia Urdaneta-Castillo, 30, when he lost control, police said. Toledo-Rodriguez spilled the bike and was ejected. He died on the scene, GPD said. Urdaneta-Castillo was thrown from the motorcycle as well and is seriously injured, officers said.

Transylvania County rescue crews rushed out last weekend to Slate Rock, where someone reportedly fell and tumbled around one-thousand-feet. It took six-hours to complete the rescue, as emergency workers helped the victim walk away from the site.

Guilford Courthouse National Park temporarily closed due to winter storm

County officials said the park is closed due to damage from Saturday’s ice storm. Guilford County officials announced Sunday the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park is temporarily closed due significant ice damage over the weekend. Officials said the park is closed due to damage from Saturday’s ice storm. According to park officials, the ice caused damage to trees within the park impacting powerlines, trails, the loop tour road, and the parking lot at the intersection of Old Battleground and New Garden Road.
