Police Release Details On Shooting Involving Soldier At Azan Supercentre

8:06 pm, Fri December 18, 2020 The police have released details on Thursday s incident in the car park of Azan Supercentre on Old Hope Road in St. Andrew in which an employee was shot by a member of the Jamaica Defence Force.     It was reported that about 12:20 p.m., the JDF Corporal was in the car park when he became embroiled in a dispute with the Azan employee.     He later gave a statement to investigators claiming he was acting in self-defence after the employee reportedly pulled a knife on him.   The soldier, who surrendered to the military police Thursday afternoon at Up Park Camp, is to undergo further questioning.

Azan s worker shot by licensed firearm holder in Cross Roads

The police force s Corporate Communication Unit has confirmed the shooting. Reports are that there was a dispute between a male member of staff of the Azan s Supercentre and the licensed firearm holder who is believed to be a member of the Jamaica Defence Force. It is reported that the worker was shot twice by the licensed firearm holder and was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital by a police unit. The condition of the injured man is not known at this time. A section of Old Hope Road was cordoned off and traffic diverted for motorists travelling in the area.
