“People have a preference, and I think that’s why tonight is so successful,” said Scott Martinson, director of health for the CT River Area Health District.
“I think it’s a great idea. It’s helpful because it gives everyone the opportunity to choose what they want,” said Scott Harper of West Haven who waited more than an hour.
In addition to picking a vaccine, Harper had another choice to make at the end of the line. Organizers offered everyone in the vehicles hot dogs or hamburgers.
Martinson says the convenience of the drive-thru vaccination has been a huge hit for the town, and this was a chance to continue that outreach while giving people options.

Old Saybrook PD traveled to Northumberland County Jail in Coal Township Pennsylvania to extradite White on Tuesday.
The vehicle White used to flee Connecticut on the night of the incident is also being transported back to Old Saybrook Police for processing, officials said.
“Today is the first step in Connecticut holding Richard White accountable for his crimes against public safety,” said Police Chief Michael A. Spera in a statement “Any person who seeks to do harm to those responsible for saving human lives is a danger to society.”
He was charged with 3rd-degree arson and 3rd-degree burglary.
White will be held on a $150,000 bond and taken to Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday.
MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) A man accused of targeting a Hunters Ambulance facility in Old Saybrook with a Molotov Cocktail last month faced a judge on Wednesday.
Richard White, 37, appeared in Middletown Court following charges from Old Saybrook police after he was caught on camera throwing a Molotov cocktail at the Hunter s Ambulance facility on Boston Post Road.
The incident happened back on Feb, 27.
Hours after doing that, White is accused of throwing another lit fire bomb at the main Hunter s facility in Meriden.
