THE long-time owner of a Bridport pet store has decided to retire - and his business partner has taken over. With Mervyn Pratt announcing his retirement following 26 years at Pets Direct and Aquatics at the Old Laundry trading estate in Sea Road North, the store has been taken over by his business partner, Simon Loud. Mr Pratt started the company in 1994 - originally delivering pet food from his van. Mr Pratt said: I would like to thank all of our customers past and present for their custom and loyalty. I would like to thank Simon for all his hard work, dedication and friendship over all these years and would like to wish him all the very best now that he is taking over the running of the business.

Shepherd’s Bush Market, initially established in 1914, has been recently bought by new investors Yoo Capital seeking to revamp the area, as well as curbing the financial disarray experienced by its tenants throughout the recent months. Since the passing over of Shepherd’s Bush Market from previous landlords U+I to new investors Yoo Capital in September, the situation is looking up for tenants of the area. In July, a dispute broke out over the deferral of a 3-month-long stint of missed rent, due to the closure of non-essential businesses - as the shop-owners had barely visited the area during this time, they instead demanded the complete suspension of fees from the start of their shutdown, which was not granted until now.

Upgrades at Morrisons (planning reference 20/00959/FUL) The popular supermarket, based at The Peel Centre on Skimped Hill Lane, is set for another round of upgrades after permission was granted to add new features at the site back in October. This time around, bosses at the store have asked the council to say yes to plans which would see a freestanding warehouse pod go up at the side of the supermarket.
