WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA On Friday, a portion of Rolling Road will have lane closures in West Springfield, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Lane closures will impact southbound Rolling Road between Old Keene Mill Road and Kenwood Avenue Friday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. Crews will be implementing a traffic shift as part of the Rolling Road and Old Keene Mill Road intersection improvements. Work is weather dependent.
At least one lane of southbound Rolling Road will be open, and the northbound direction will remain open. Around noon Friday, southbound Rolling Road between Old Keene Mill Road and Kenwood Avenue will be shifted to the right onto new pavement. The traffic shift will allow for the median area to be reconstructed.

Police are seeking a missing woman last seen in Springfield on Tuesday, April 20. (Fairfax County Police )
SPRINGFIELD, VA Fairfax County Police say a missing woman from Springfield was found dead. Foul play is not suspected.
Nancy Washington, 89, was last seen around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 7000 block of Old Keene Mill Road. She was considered endangered due to mental or physical health concerns.
Washington was last seen wearing a black polo with red floral design, a blue jean skirt, a brown knit hat, glasses, black shoes with pink trim, and black handbag.

The Fairfax County Park Authority will soon begin construction on the next segment of the Pohick Stream Valley Trail between Burke Station Park and Hillside Road.
The contractor, AP Construction in Annandale, Virginia, is scheduled to mobilize on site on or around March 8, 2021, weather permitting. Contingent on the weather, this project will continue throughout the year with completion anticipated by the end of 2021. Approximately 2,200 linear feet of 8-foot-wide asphalt trail and one fiberglass bridge will be constructed. The project will connect the existing trail network within Burke Station Park to Hillside Road near Old Keene Mill Road. This connection will provide increased access to recreational facilities and the Virginia Railway Express Rolling Road station. It will serve both pedestrians and cyclists and create approximately 2 miles of fully accessible continuous stream valley trail from Burke Lake Road to Hillside Road for persons of all abilities.

Several car crashes were reported in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region due to icy road conditions and slick spots Tuesday morning.
Ice has been a huge issue on roads Tuesday morning, especially on flyovers and ramps, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
As of 6 a.m., police have responded to crashes in the area of northbound Interstate 95 near Old Keene Mill. There was also a crash on the westbound Interstate 66 ramp to westbound Route 50.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) sent over salt trucks to treat the roads.
