Ottawa musicians rally to support the Mayfair Theatre during the COVID-19 pandemic

  OTTAWA Over twenty musicians are taking part in a two-day live concert this weekend, rallying to support the Mayfair Theatre. And you will be able to watch the concert virtually. The Mayfair Theatre is beloved by many in Old Ottawa South, and across the city. And now, very sadly - the Bytowne (Theatre) is closed down, and we’re the last cinema standing. We’re the last single screen independent cinema, Josh Stafford, co-owner of the Mayfair Theatre tells CTV News Ottawa. Like many businesses impacted by the pandemic, they’ve had to adapt. You look back, and the Mayfair has survived world wars; and, this is a crazy thing, the invention of the television, and then the VCR. It’s made it past a lot, we are very confident that we’ll be back next year, says Stafford.

It s been quite popular, said Grant Marley, general manager of the Senate Tavern. It s really taken off. We re in our third week and in the past week it s really taken off. The Senate Tavern purchased the vending machines from PizzaForno, which describes the machines as the 24/7 automated pizzeria.
