KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 The Malaysian Bar has expressed its worry over the RM500,000 fine imposed by the Federal Court earlier today on online news portal
Malaysiakini for contempt, calling it exorbitant and excessive.
Its president Salim Bashir said a lower amount would have been sufficient to demonstrate the Court’s disapproval of Malaysiakini’s offence.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 The recent fine imposed by the Federal Court on news portal
Malaysiakini for contempt of court has drawn the worry of the European Union (EU) and two of its members.

KUALA LUMPUR: News portal Malaysiakini posted today that it has collected RM688,120, even as it closed its fundraising campaign seeking RM500,000 to pay for its court fine for contempt conviction
