As the number of fresh COVID-19 cases from Radhapuram area is on the rise, two more COVID-19 Care Centres, each with 200 beds, are coming up in St. Antony’s College of Education at Kumarapuram near Mannaarpuram Junction and Universal Engineering College near Valliyoor. Speaker M. Appavu and Collector V. Vishnu visited these colleges on Tuesday to check the beds being kept there and the other allied facilities that are being created to receive the patients.

The Corporation has roped in a few more grocery stores and the supermarkets for supplying the essential commodities to the residents on getting the orders through phone. In a statement, Corporation Commissioner G. Kannan said the urban civic body has made these special arrangements to help the public for delivering the essential commodities at their doorstep in the wake of the intensified lockdown. The orders may be placed between 6 a.m. and 12 noon. Hence, the public should cooperate with the Corporation to curb the spread of COVID-19 by remaining indoors, Mr. Kannan said.

The Corporation, by roping in a few grocery stores and the supermarkets, has made arrangements for delivering essential commodities at the doorstep of the residents. According to G. Kannan, Commissioner of Tirunelveli Corporation, the urban civic body has roped in good number of grocery stores and the supermarkets to supply essential commodities to the consumers living within the Corporation limits at their doorstep during the intensified lockdown period i.e. till May 31. If the consumers placed their orders to the nearest shop over the phone between 6 a.m. and 12 noon, the grocery items would be delivered, Mr. Kannan said.
