Labour’s Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter has been ousted by the late-entry Conservative candidate Jonathan Evison after two vote counts.
Mr Evison, currently Mayor of North Lincolnshire, beat Mr Hunter after winning 74,534 votes compared to the loser’s 71,615. The turnout was 22%.
He had been brought in as a last-minute replacement for Craig Ulliott who stood down “for personal reasons” after his previous work experience was questioned.
A Lincoln school was put on lockdown on Monday morning “due to suspicious activity” outside of, but in the vicinity of its grounds, after unconfirmed reports that there was a man with a gun in the local area.
Police directed St Peter and St Paul Catholic Voluntary Academy on Western Avenue to go into lockdown at 9.30am. The school was later told it could come out of the lockdown at 10.30am on May 10.

Police appeal after 16-year-old girl goes missing from Spalding
Emily may have been heading to Sheffield
Police are concerned for the welfare of a 16-year-old girl from Spalding who has gone missing.
Emily Bamford-Thompson was last seen in the Holbeach St Marks area of Spalding on Sunday, February 21 at around 5pm.
It is believed that she may be travelling to Sheffield via public transport.
Emily was last seen wearing black shoes, black trousers and a black coat.
