Amazon India on Thursday announced a $250 million venture fund for small and medium businesses (SMBs) on the first day of its flagship event Smbhav. The Amazon Smbhav Fund will focus on helping digitise SMBs and drive technology innovations in the agriculture and healthcare sectors. Amazon’s incoming CEO Andy Jassy announced the new venture fund at the event and said, “Small and medium businesses are the engine and lifeblood of economies.”
The fund will primarily invest in Indian startups working on automating and digitising business operations. Amazon said another priority area is helping agri-tech companies build farm-to-fork models and reduce food waste, and assist the healthcare sector in adopting AI solutions and reducing administrative load. As part of the Venture Fund, the e-commerce giant has announced an investment in M1xchange, an invoice discounting marketplace for MSMEs.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that with the global supply chain undergoing significant restructuring, and countries looking to diversify their supply out of China, Indian MSMEs have a great opportunity of being integrated into these global supply chains. He said digitally empowering MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) will propel the country faster towards the vision of Digital India and catapult Make in India to go global and create digitally enabled robust business that power livelihoods in the entire community. “They are the backbone of our country, and the MSME sector has created more than 11 crore jobs contributes to 1/3 of the country’s GDP (gross domestic product) and around half of its exports,” said Gadkari at e-commerce giant Amazon’s flagship event Amazon Smbhav 2021. “With time it has become increasingly clear that the technology will be a very critical factor in defining the success and competitiveness of Indian MSMEs both domestically as well

New Delhi, April 10 : The Adivasi Eakatmik Samajik Sanstha (AESS) in Shahapur, the largest taluka in Maharashtra s Thane district, has emerged as a major source of employment for the local tribals a perfect example of tribal entrepreneurship that sold 18.50 lakh giloy in the last 1.5 years.

At least 100 villages in each region and 1,500 villages in the country will be covered in the next 100 days.
The main aim of this drive is to activate the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in these villages, according to the Tribal Affairs Ministry.
Reaching out to disadvantaged tribal sections of society, the government has launched a 100-day drive to activate the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in about 1,500 villages across the country.
Sankalp se Siddhi, a village and digital connect drive which aims to aid a complete transformation of the tribal ecosystem has been launched by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) under the Tribal Affairs Ministry.
