NORTH COUNTY
A 3-acre brush fire destroyed an RV and an outbuilding north of Valley Center on Monday afternoon, Cal Fire officials said.
The fire started about 3:30 p.m. in a sparsely populated area off San Gabriel Way and Couser Canyon Road.
Cal Fire Capt. Frank LoCoco said the flames spread at a slow to moderate rate near homes, destroying the RV and outbuilding before firefighters, with the help of two water-dropping helicopters, held the fire to 3 acres.
No evacuations were ordered, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were expected to build containment lines around the burn area into the evening. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

McPHERSON, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) – The McPherson Lady Bullpups retaliated against a loss in December by beating the Dodge City Lady Demons 45 to 39 to win the 26th annual Mid America Classic.
Dodge City entered the Roundhouse in McPherson on December 18, giving the Lady Bullpups a rare regular season home loss. The 58-41 victory has left a mark on the team organizing the midseason tournament.
The outcome of December’s game was also decisive for the tournament’s seeding. Dodge City earned the top seed with their unbeaten record. The hosts, McPherson, would take the number two position.
