The city of Canyon and Canyon Chamber of Commerce are preparing to continue their tradition of hosting “one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in Texas” in a couple of weeks, after the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the events in 2020.
The Canyon City Commission, during a recent meeting, unanimously approved two resolutions putting plans in motion for this year’s festivities to be hosted July 3 in downtown Canyon.
According to previous Globe-News reports, the celebration has brought 40,000 to 50,000 people to Canyon in the past, with consistent Fourth of July celebrations being hosted in the community for nearly seven decades.
With the festivities returning to downtown Canyon this year, it shows how things are getting back to normal, said Roger Remlinger, executive director of the Canyon Chamber of Commerce.
