Burton and his wife welcomed their second child, Kyana, last spring, he is on leave is until May. “I feel lucky to work for a minister and a government that supports and encourages dads to take parental leave,” he said in a statement to iPolitics. “I’m grateful to have been able to take leaves with both of my kids.” Burton’s first child, Ninwaya, was born in August 2018. He lamented that being a full time parent to two children under three years old is “exhausting and rewarding”, especially when experiencing the challenges of raising children during the extraordinary times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
