Hibbert Maine Has One Resident and She s Grumpy

There s not a lot of information on Hibberts Gore Maine. According to Mental Floss, a map survey carved out part of Palermo Maine and labled it as an unincorporated, 640-acre piece of land. The only stats we have on Hibberts Gore, is from the U.S. Census in 2010 saying there is just one resident: Karen Keller. She moved to Hibberts Gore after her divorce. There was a 2001 Boston Globe article about the weird parcel of land and that s when the spotlight got a little too hot for Karen. Google Maps Karen was getting way more attention than she wanted. She even tried to get the Census to count her as part of nearby Lincoln County. They declined.

Palermo library to host Zoom presentation Feb 23

Author John Bunker to give talk titled Grandma’s Apple Orchard. Read Article Jonathan The Palermo Community Library will host a virtual presentation by John Bunker titled, Grandma’s Apple Orchard: The perfect orchard with only 12 trees. How did she do it? The event will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. The free presentation will be accessible via Zoom and Facebook Live. Bunker, a Colby alumnus, was presented the 2019 Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award by Gov. Janet Mills and Commissioner Amanda Beal for Saving Maine’s Apple Heritage. He also has authored two books, “Apples and the Art of Detection: Tracking Down, Identifying, and Preserving Rare Apples,” and “Not Far From the Tree a Brief History of the Apples and the Orchards of Palermo Maine 1804-2004.”
