SMITH COUNTY, Texas Longtime Smith County judge Jack Skeen has announced he will not seek re-election after his current term expires due to his age. I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election as Judge of the 241st Judicial District Court of Smith County, Texas, in the March 2022 Republican Primary, Judge Skeen said.
According to Article V, Section 1-a of the Texas Constitution, Subsection 1, “The office of every such Justice and Judge shall become vacant on the expiration of the term during which the incumbent reaches the age of 75 years.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Judge Jack Skeen Jr. announced Friday he will not seek re-election.
Judge Skeen said, “I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election as Judge of the 241st Judicial District Court of Smith County, Texas, in the March, 2022 Republican Primary.”
Skeen quoted the Texas Constitution: The office of every such Justice and Judge shall become vacant on the expiration of the term during which the incumbent reaches the age of seventy-five (75) years. (Article V, Section 1-a)

SMITH COUNTY, Texas A Tyler sex offender was sentenced to 60 years in prison for viewing and sharing child pornography.
Wesley Brogan, 46, entered guilty pleas to four charges, including possession of child porn, two counts of possession with intent to promote child porn and sex offender’s failure to register annually, in the 241st District Court on Tuesday.
Brogan was sentenced to 20 years for the possession of child porn charge, 60 years each for the possession with intent to promote child porn and 10 years for not registering as a sex offender annually. Judge Jack Skeen Jr. said in the court hearing that the sentences will be served concurrently or at the same time. Brogan was arrested Aug. 25 last year and he has been in the Smith County Jail since then.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler man indicted on multiple charges related to child pornography was sentenced to more than half a century in prison.
Wesley Wayne Brogan, 46, of Tyler, was indicted in December 2020 on four counts, including one count of failure to register as a sex offender, one count of possession of child pornography and two counts of child pornography with intent to distribute. Brogan, along with his boyfriend, Justin A. Jackson, 35, of Tyler, were arrested in August.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Harvey Louis Martin pleaded guilty to the Dec. 27, 2018 murders of two victims, who both were shot in the head.
Caleb McGrady of Tyler was 26 and Krista Newman of Frankston was 25 at the time of the shooting.
In Judge Skeen’s court, the plea agreement brought the charge from capital murder, punishable by death, to murder, a first-degree felony with a possible life sentence.
The plea agreement waives Martin’s right to appeal or request a new trial.
