Aransas County commissioners, at their regular meeting Monday, Jan. 25, denied with a 3-1 vote supporting a Sales Tax Exemption Initiative for the Rockport Cultural Arts District (RCAD). Aransas County Judge C.H. âBurtâ Mills voted to support the initiative. Commissioners Wendy Laubach, Pat Rousseau, and Bubba Casterline voted not to support it. Commissioner Jack Chaney was not at the meeting.
(Note: The Rockport City Council unanimously approved supporting the initiative at its Jan. 12 meeting. RCAD Executive Director Jennifer Day said at that meeting she would be presenting the idea to county commissioners, adding, âIf they donât support this, we wonât pursue it.â)
