“As canvassing is underway in almost all the municipalities in Palawan, we congratulate all Palawenos for participating in this historic voting,” the group said in a statement on Saturday, March 13.
“We call on all stakeholders to remain vigilant until the last return is canvassed and the result of the plebiscite is announced,” added Lente.
On Sunday, March 14, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the board of canvassers will reconvene at 2 p.m. on the said day.
“The Provincial Plebiscite Board of Canvassers (PPBOC) yesterday convened at 6 p.m. at the Legislative Session Hall, Legislative Building, Capitol Compound, Puerto Princesa City,” the poll body said in a statement.

“As of 1 p.m., voting in the Palawan Plebiscite continues unabated, despite persistent rains,” said Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez in a message to reporters.
“So far, we feel that the plebiscite is going smoothly and we are hopeful that this will continue until the end of the day,” he added.
Jimenez said majority of the polling places opened on time “with the exception of Kalayaan where the opening of polls have been delayed because of the late arrival of election supplies and paraphernalia.” The Comelec official said that only one “untoward incident” was reported so far.
A total of 490,639 voters are expected to participate in the plebiscite for the creation of Palawan del Norte, Palawan Oriental, and Palawan del Sur on Saturday, March 13.

Data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed that there are a total of 490,639 registered voters in Palawan.
They will cast their votes in a total of 2,959 clustered precincts, with each having a maximum of 200 voters, and manned by a total of 3,446 plebiscite committees.
The poll body also established a total of 487 voting centers in 23 municipalities and cities of Palawan.
Voting be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Health protocols will be strictly implemented in polling precincts with only five voters allowed to cast their votes simultaneously.
Unlike in the May 2019 polls which was automated, the plebiscite elections will be done manually.
