The fundraising campaign aims to recover costs lost at the Wapiti Valley Ski and Board Resort due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chair of the board Dennis Wiebe told northeastNOW as a community based, non-profit organization, operations depend largely on revenue brought in through the winter months. “Wapiti was forced to close early in last years season and we didn’t open in the fall of 2020 either due to restrictions,” Wiebe said. “We are now in a stressful financial situation.”

The new Wenatchee Express chairlift is over a mile long with a vertical rise of over 1500 feet. The installation included new tower locations, new top and bottom terminal buildings, and a new maintenance shop/chair parking garage connected to the bottom terminal. WENATCHEE Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort opened the Wenatchee Express chairlift for the first time Wednesday. The new high-speed, four-person chairlift replaces the old Liberator Express chairlift in the same position but features chairs with plexiglass bubble covers, a shorter ride time, and loading/unloading from inside the new top and bottom terminal buildings. The chairlift is unique in the Pacific Northwest and will be a one-of-a-kind experience for snowboarders and skiers in the region. “This chairlift is going to be transformational for Mission Ridge, our Passholders, and our guests,” said Mission Ridge owner Larry Scrivanich. “It s really going to be the centerpiece of The Ridge.”

Wapiti Valley Ski Hill not opening this season

Melfort, SK, Canada / CJVR Today s Best Country Dec 24, 2020 12:56 PM As ski hills across the province make efforts to open for the season, Wapiti Ski Hill north of Melfort has announced they won’t be opening at all. In a Facebook post earlier this week, it was indicated that an update would be provided on plans moving forward as some restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic for ski facilities had changed. On Wednesday, a statement was posted stating the facility would not be operating in the 2020-2021 season. The ski facility office will be open on Dec. 28 in an effort to refund any season passes that have been previously purchased or to roll them over to next season.
