More Support For COVIDSafe Multicultural Festivals And Events

VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government is providing more support to help multicultural and multifaith communities to celebrate, share and preserve their culture and traditions. Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence today announced grants of up to $50,000 through the Multicultural Festivals and Events Program to help local organisations host COVIDSafe events – both face-to-face and digital. The Program recognises the important role community connection and celebration play in all communities, and enables Victorians to celebrate the diversity and multiculturalism that makes us strong. With the celebration of Harmony Day this Sunday 21 March, and Cultural Diversity Week taking place from 21-28 March, it’s the perfect time for organisations to apply for activities that celebrate the diversity in our State.

Victoria seals commitment for Greek Independence festival and funds COVIDSafe multicultural events

3 March 2021 2:20pm Victoria is the place for multicultural events, with a mosaic of cultural festivals paying homage to people’s heritage from around the world. To further facilitate this, Victoria’s Multicultural Affairs Minister Ros Spence announced $750,000 for 205 community organisations across the state so that they can deliver COVIDSafe multicultural festivals and events from now until the end of June. The state government is also making good on its pledge to the Greek people with $200,000 for events celebrating the bicentenary of Greece’s independence and $50,000 to support various Hindu organisations host events. Specifically, there will be 23 community organisations to share in the funds allocated for Greek festivities to commemorate an important Greek national milestone.
