With the fear of bird flu leading to a ban on selling poultry in certain places, the central government came out to ask the state governments to reconsider the ban and allow the sale of poultry products that were procured from non-infected areas.

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], January 12 (ANI): Around 2,500 samples, including 20 dead wild birds, have been sent to a lab for a bird flu test, Jharkhand Animal Husbandry Department Director (AHD) informed on Tuesday.
Director of the AHD Nancy Sahay said that no death of poultrybirds has been reported in the state so far. Moreover, Rapid Response Teams have been formed which are monitoring the situation across the state. Animal Husbandry department is taking all the necessary steps. All other required arrangements have been put into ready to active mode , said Sahai.

Mumbai/Bhopal: More cases of Bird Flu - Avian Influenza (AI), have been reported from different districts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
According to a report, the flu has gripped at least 18 districts of Madhya Pradesh whereas tests confirmed deaths of as many as 800 chickens due to the infection in Maharashtra.
As per the officials, bird flu has been confirmed in crows and wild birds in 18 districts of Madhya Pradesh Indore, Mandsaur, Agar, Neemuch, Dewas, Ujjain, Khandwa, Khargone, Guna, Shivpuri, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Vidisha, Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Ashoknagar, Datia and Barwani across the state.
