Palghar: The Palghar administration has ordered the closure of all poultry farms and chicken shops in the Maharashtra district after bird flu was confirmed there following the deaths of 45 hens at a poultry farm.
“Bird flu has been confirmed in Palghar, Maharashtra following the death of 45 chickens at a poultry farm. The district administration has ordered closure of all poultry farms and shops selling chicken for the next 21 days,” Palghar Deputy Collector Kiran Mahajan said.

MUMBAI: Bird flu has been confirmed in Palghar in Maharashtra following the death of 45 chickens at a poultry farm, ANI reported on Wednesday, quoting deputy collector Kiran Mahajan.
Giving this information, Mahajan said, The district administration has ordered closure of all poultry farms and shops selling chicken for the next 21 days.

Maharashtra had reported deaths of 381 birds on Sunday amid the avian influenza scare, a state government official said on Monday, PTI adds.

MUMBAI: After Mumbai and Thane, around 220 American breed domestic chicken and a few crows were found dead in villages in Palghar district. The samples have been sent for testing for bird flu.
Last week, samples of birds found dead in Mumbai’s Chembur and Thane tested positive for avian influenza. Maharashtra along with states like Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala has confirmed bird flu deaths.
In Girale village of Palghar, a poultry farm owner reported the death of around 220 Rhode Island Red (RIR) chicken on Monday. District Animal Husbandry officer Dr Ajit Hirve confirmed the deaths and said that five samples of RIR have been sent for testing to Animal Diseases Investigation department in Pune and the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal.
