A CONVICTED sex offender breached notification requirements by opening an account on the dating app Grindr under the name Mr Grumpy Socks which he hadn t registered with the police. Blackburn magistrates heard Stephen Hughes, formerly known as Stephen Barcelotti, told police he had used the bogus name because he didn t want his former partner to know he was back on the dating scene. And he admitted he had had sexual relationships with two men as a result of his use of the app.

Burnley Crown Court A TRIAL date has been set for a man who denies sexual assault on another male. Mohammed Shafaque entered a not-guilty plea to one count of sexual assault on the man through an interpreter at Burnley Crown Court on Tuesday morning. The court heard how Shafaque, of Crawford Street, Nelson, was charged following an incident in August of 2020. The 54-year-old will now stand trial in 2022. Addressing him, Judge Sara Dodd said: “You trial will take place on the 20th of June of next year. She was committed on bail to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced on June 7. Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said the incident happened in the |Burnley Borough Council contact centre on Harper Lane. Coats had been in the centre seeking advice and was still there when it came to closing time.
