Plans to protect 225 homes from flooding | Warrington Guardian

The site of the proposed Whittle Brook outfall PLANS to protect hundreds of homes in Penketh from flooding have been submitted. The Environment Agency has teamed up with Warrington Borough Council for the major scheme around Whittle Brook and Penketh Brook. The scheme will protect 225 homes from the risk of very significant flooding. The works involve: n Construction of a new culvert to improve conveyance under the railway line and canal and reduce the risk of flooding on the Penketh Brook. n Construction of a tidal outfall that will act to minimise tidal ingress and silt accumulation from the River Mersey.

Argument over sluggish crisps scanning ends up in court

Michael Ashton, 47, was said to have been in a hurry to reach a hostel in Chippenham so he could warm up his food before spending a night on the streets. He was behind his victim at the self-service checkouts in the Tesco Metro in Emery Gate, Chippenham, on October 11 last year. Prosecutor Graham Dono told Swindon Magistrates’ Court that Ashton said words to the effect of “f , how does it take this long when you’re only scanning crisps?”
