SOME of the cases heard by Salisbury Magistrates : REECE KEENAN, aged 19, of Upnor Close, Perham Down, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour while drunk in Salisbury’s Guildhall Square on January 23 last year. He was fined £100 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. JAMES SLOMAN, aged 47, of Westwood Road, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to using a car without the appropriate policy of insurance. The offence took place on April 16 last year when Sloman used a silver BMW in Wilton Market Place. Sloman indicated a plea of guilty to possessing cannabis, also on April 16. He was fined £200 and was ordered to pay costs of £85. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

The Fence Art Project features nine large-scale paintings on canvas mounted to construction fences.  The pieces hang near the new SEDA offices at Drayton and Forsyth Park, as well as in front of two additional developments on Bull Street, one on the west side near 38th, and one on the east side close to the intersection of 31st. Organized by local business owner and art advocate Clinton Edminster, the project features a diverse collection of artists and styles, each working with the theme of “Building Together.” With Amiri Geuka Farris’ contribution to the project, the artist is tackling the concept both literally and metaphorically.

By Aran Dhillon, Local Democracy Reporter Fly-tipping costs and reduced bus lane income among ‘pressures’ facing council WARRINGTON Borough Council’s cabinet is set to approve a £150 million budget. Members are expected to back the 2021-22 medium-term financial plan, draft revenue budget and capital programme during the virtual meeting on Monday. It would pave the way for the proposals to come before full council for approval on March 1. The proposed budget totals £150.17 million and includes a 4.98 per cent council tax increase, as well as £11.6 million of savings and cuts. However, balancing the budget does require funding from reserves of £3.5 million, of which approximately £2.4 million is the initial assessment of the one-off pressures continuing from the council’s response to Covid-19.

THE impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been felt within every industry and service, with the police being no exception. Despite staffing levels improving within Wiltshire Police, Inspector Pete Sparrow, of the Salisbury community policing team, told the Salisbury Area Board last week that the coronavirus crisis has put a massive demand on resources , with officers adapting to new roles and being instructed to isolate when necessary.
