Spring ISD weathers ice storm By Paul Wedding, Staff writer
The ice storm last week affected school districts across the Houston area, some more than others as Spring ISD deals with damage caused to some of their campuses.
Overall, despite some damage to campuses, Spring ISD Chief Operating Officer Mark Miranda said he thought the district handled the storm well.
“In terms of our facilities, remarkably well,” Miranda said. “We prepared as best we could just like most people wrapping our pipes, draining things, and we have generators at all of our campuses. Some had some issues because they’re not used to operating in cold weather.”
SISD Superintendent Rodney Watson said in a Feb. 19 letter that the decision to delay returning to campus was made to allow community members to recover, while also giving the district time to repair facilities.
