‘Past govts destroyed institutions through political interference’ June 30, 2021 LAHORE: Former Chief Minister Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar here Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interest as well as overall political situation. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said the present government carried out substantial development in the province, whereas the previous governments relied on pomp and show only. He regretted that the past regimes destroyed institutions through political interference, whereas the present government made the institutions autonomous and ensured appointments on merit. The chief minister said the culture of personal liking and disliking was weeded out by the PTI government and merit policy was being promoted, stated official spokesman.

Man injured, 4 shops, 10 vehicles burnt in cylinders’ explosion June 30, 2021 LAHORE: A man sustained burns while at least four shops and 10 vehicles were burnt when cylinders exploded in a gas filling shop in Garden Town police limits here on Tuesday. The incident created a panic in the locality as people deemed it another blast after Johar Town explosion. The cylinders exploded due to a gas leakage. Eyewitnesses said a fire erupted in the shop in Barkat Market when someone lit a fire. With no time, a huge fire engulfed the entire shop. As the shop and its surrounding area were packed with gas cylinders, the cylinders started exploding one by one.

Rescue workers trying to extinguish the fire after LPG cylinder blasts in Barkat Market of Garden Town. White Star / M Arif LAHORE: Two persons were critically injured and five shops and 10 vehicles reduced to ashes when several liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders exploded one after another at Garden Town’s Barkat Market on Tuesday. The incident took place at four LPG refilling shops located in the rear of the market famous for food outlets. The blasts and flames created panic in the area as most traders and residents came out of their shops and houses amid apprehension of terrorism in the city.
