THE Queen has today opened Parliament in her first official ceremony since Prince Philip s funeral.
The dutiful 95-year-old monarch was supported by her son Prince Charles as she conducted the State Opening at the Palace of Westminster.

The ceremony, which was pared down due to Covid, saw Her Majesty forgo her usual ceremonial robes - instead wearing a lilac outfit.

Queen Elizabeth II smiles in first royal engagement since Prince Philip s funeral
The British monarch conducted two virtual audiences from Windsor Castle ten days after the duke was laid to rest.

Queen Elizabeth II held a series of virtual meetings from Windsor Castle on Tuesday, which marked her first official appearance since Prince Philip s funeral on April 17.
The 95-year-old British monarch sported a big smile and wore a blue floral dress and big pearls for the engagement. She held virtual audiences with Ivita Burmistre, Ambassador from the Republic of Latvia, and Sara Affoue Amani, Ambassador from the Republic of Côte d Ivoire. They met with the queen at Buckingham Palace.

This comes 10 days after the funeral of Prince Philip, who died peacefully at the age of 99 on April 9. And while it is the first time the Queen is seen in photos engaging in royal duties since the Duke of Edinburgh s funeral, it is not the first time she has resumed work since his demise.
Just four days after the death of her husband, the Queen attended a retirement ceremony for the former Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel. In her second official engagement since Prince Philip s passing, she welcomed the new Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 head Baron Parker, to his post.
