ALBERT LEA, Minn. Over one hundred people gathered at Fountain Lake Park in Albert Lea Saturday to support local business owner Lisa Hanson.
The “Stand for Liberty” event was held just two days after Hanson was arrested for defying Minnesota COVID restrictions last November.
Hanson says her business, The Interchange Wine and Coffee Bistro, was already in financial ruin after the first lockdown, and she knew the business wouldn’t survive another one.

The Albert Lea business owner who defied state COVID-related restrictions at her wine and coffee bar and failed to show up for a bail hearing last month was arrested Thursday in Iowa.
Lisa Hanson, who was released late Thursday afternoon from jail after posting $2,000 bail, told the Star Tribune that she still plans to speak Saturday at a previously scheduled Stand for Liberty rally at an Albert Lea park.
Albert Lea business owner arrested in Iowa
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KTTC) The Interchange Wine and Coffee Bistro owner Lisa Hanson, also known as Melissa Hanson, was arrested Thursday afternoon in Clear Lake, Iowa on outstanding warrants.
According to a news release, the Freeborn Sheriff s office and Albert Lea Police Department had been performing surveillance on an Airbnb in Clear Lake.
Hanson was seen leaving the rental at about 3 p.m. and was arrested by Clear Lake Police Department officers.
She was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Hanson has since posted bail.

The owner of a wine bar in Albert Lea that stayed open in defiance of Gov. Tim Walz s COVID-19 executive orders was arrested in Iowa. Clear Lake, Iowa, police arrested Melissa Lisa Hanson at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, and she was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail, Clear Lake PD told Bring Me The News. She was released hours later after posting bail, J.D. Carlson, director of Albert Lea Public Safety, said.

Minnesota woman arrested in Clear Lake for pandemic violations
A southern Minnesota restaurant owner who was wanted by authorities for pandemic-related violations has been arrested after hiding out in Clear Lake.
Melissa Hanson is the owner of The Interchange Wine & Coffee Bistro in Albert Lea and was wanted by Minnesota authorities on outstanding warrants for failing to appear for a court hearing .
Hanson is facing criminal charges in Freeborn County for allegedly opening up her business in violation of Minnesota coronavirus restrictions.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department says they were working with the Albert Lea Police Department in monitoring an Airbnb location in Clear Lake, with Clear Lake police arresting her on Thursday after being seen leaving the rental property.
