Through a private contractor, the Milwaukee Health Department will offer a fourth COVID-19 testing site starting Tuesday, December 29th. It is the city’s first mobile testing site and will be located at Custer Stadium at Barack Obama High School, 4300 W. Fairmount Ave. on the city’s far North Side.
To help increase COVID-19 testing, the city of Milwaukee is focusing on neighborhoods hardest hit by the coronavirus. Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinThe first mobile test site opened Tuesday in the Custer Stadium parking lot on 44th Street, just north of Hampton Avenue, because the mayor called that area of Milwaukee a hot spot. It will be there for at least the next two weeks. I think it was awesome. It was pretty fast. The girls were pretty helpful, said Delma Colon, who got tested Tuesday. The site will be open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Mayor Tom Barrett said the mobile test sites are a way to provide additional testing in places where it is needed most. When the Milwaukee Health Department sees higher levels of COVID-19 illness in particular areas of the city, the mobile test locations can and will be moved to those locations, Barrett said on Monday.
