Thailand’s national upstream company PTTEP is set to spud imminently the Nangka-1 exploration well on the Block SK 147 production sharing contract offshore Sarawak in Malaysia’s exclusive economic zone.
Borr Drilling’s jack-up rig Saga, which was last operating on the Medan Helang D1-1 well, has been lined up for the Nangka wildcat.

PETRONAS announced a gas discovery from Dokong-1 wildcat exploration well in Block SK417 Production Sharing Contract (PSC), located in the shallow waters of Baram Province, approximately 90 kilometres off the coast of Sarawak, offshore Malaysia.
PTTEP HK Offshore Limited is the operator for Block SK417 PSC with 80 per cent participating interest while PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS holds the remaining 20 per cent. The PSC was signed in March 2018 as a result from the Malaysia Bid Round 2017.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 ― Malaysia's state energy firm Petroliam Nasional Bhd, or Petronas, said today that it had discovered gas in the Dokong-1 wildcat exploration well in the Block SK417 production sharing contract (PSC). The firm said the contaminant-free gas find in Dokong-1 in the shallow.
Petronas senior vice president of Malaysia Petroleum Management Mohamed Firouz Asnan said: “The Dokong-1 exploration well is one of several recent successes in Malaysia’s exploration activities.
KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd found a gas from the Dokong-1 wildcat exploration well in Block SK417 production sharing contract (PSC), located in the shallow waters of Baram Province.
In a statement issued through Bernama on Wednesday, the national oil company said the well was about 90km off the coast of Sarawak.
The Dokong-1 wildcat exploration well was successfully drilled to a total depth of 3,810 metres in mid-January 2021.
The discovery of a gas column measuring more than 80 metres in the Middle to Late Miocene Cycle VI-VII reservoirs further validates the potential of the remaining prospects in Baram Province.
