New Delhi [India], April 12 (ANI): With the election campaign in West Bengal for the rest of the four phases in full swing, Bharatiya Janata Party has planned many programmes including rallies and roadshows as part of its reach out to people.
Sources said as part of its efforts, the BJP is giving special focus to 40 seats spread across the greater Kolkata region. It is also trying to reach out to people individually.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch public outreach programme in Kolkata and more than 2000 small potho sabhas will take place in over 40 assembly constituencies in and around Kolkata.

NEW DELHI: To give further push to its campaign in the ongoing West Bengal assembly elections, the BJP would organise “potho sabhas” (small street corner meetings) in and around Kolkata from Tuesday. These potho sabhas would be in addition to the already planned election rallies, road shows and other programmes.
According to sources, Union home minister Amit Shah would launch the potho sabha on Tuesday by addressing them in Dum Dum and Baranagar assembly constituencies at 7 pm and 8:15 pm respectively.

Trinamool Congress has written to the Election Commission over inflammatory, inciting statements made by Bharatiya Janata Party top brass against the electorate in West Bengal. They were also accused of spinning false narratives of the brutal incident in Cooch Behar.
Seeking to woo voters in Kolkata and its neighbouring areas, BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch a massive public outreach campaign from Tuesday during which more than 2,000 street corner meetings will be held in over 40 assembly seats, party leaders said on Monday. Besides Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, top union ministers and senior party leaders will also address these meetings or potho sabhas of up to 500 people, said a party functionary who is involved in handling the BJP s election campaign in the state. The party is adding the potho sabhas to its already high-octane campaign in West Bengal to make inroads in Kolkata and its surrounding region, seen as a stronghold of the state s ruling TMC which had trounced the BJP in this region during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, despite a surge in the saffron party s vote share across the state.
