Hudson Reporter Helping Families get Something to Eat × One of the great things about our community is the generosity of our residents to people in need.  I learned recently about a program to feed the hungry that is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) board.  I heard about the program from Board of Education Trustee Chris Munoz. The board of the PTO group noticed that more and more families were in need of help. Before the Coronavirus shutdown took place in 2020, the Woodrow Wilson PTO board started a food bank that accepted food and money with which it could buy groceries.  The PTO board created what they call a share basket at the school.  The share basket was filled with snacks that were paid for with private funds.  Kids looked for the basket each day. Hudson Reporter City council approves contract with Mobile Health for new vaccine site The site will operate at the Bayonne Community Museum × The Bayonne City Council held a special meeting on March 15. The Bayonne City Council has approved a resolution authorizing an agreement with Mobile Health Services to provide COVID-19 vaccinations and related services at the Bayonne Community Museum at 229 Broadway. Last week, Mayor James Davis announced a second vaccination site was opening that will allow twice the number of vaccinations. The city is currently operating a vaccination site out of Bayonne Medical Center (BMC), but the site can vaccinate only approximately a few hundred residents a day.

Hudson Reporter Board of Education approves Assistant Superintendent of Special Services  Jennifer Vecchiarelli will take on the new role × Vecchiarelli is a career educator and team player. The Bayonne Board of Education has voted to approve Jennifer Vecchiarelli to the newly created position of Assistant Superintendent of Special Services. The Bayonne Community News caught up with Vecchiarelli.  Prior to her role in Bayonne, Vecchiarelli was a teacher in the Freehold Regional High School District for eight years. She taught special education and students with disabilities.  “It excites me to work with students with disabilities to help them work to their highest potential,” Vecchiarelli said.
