GM Efstratios Grivas Efstratios Grivas (30.03.1966) is a highly experienced chess trainer and chess author. He has been awarded by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) the titles of International Chess Grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer, International Chess Arbiter and International Chess Organiser. His main successes over the board are the Silver Medal Olympiad 1998 (3rd Board), the Gold Medal European Team Championship 1989 (3rd Board) and the 4th Position World Junior Championship U.20 1985. He has also won 5 Balkan Medals (2 Gold - 1 Silver - 2 Bronze) and he was 3 times Winner of the International ‘Acropolis’ Tournament. Rajeendra Kalugampitiya receives FIDE Trainer Title

news Rajeendra Kalugampitiya receives FIDE Trainer Title Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.) FIDE Master Rajeendra Kalugampitiya was awarded the highest chess Trainer title Sri Lanka possess at present, FIDE Trainer by the World Chess Federation after his performance at the Trainers Seminar conducted online by a trainer panel including former World Chess champion, Anatorly Karpov. Rajeendra is the one and only FIDE Trainer in Sri Lanka. Rajeendra was the National Chess Champion in 2016 and obtained the FIDE Master title later by the FIDE. The Trainer seminar conducted by the FIDE Trainer Commission was sponsored by the Asian Chess Federation in December 2020 and FIDE made the official announcement of awarding the title last week.

Mikhail Kobalia, new Chairman of the FIDE Trainer s Commission

Mikhail Kobalia, new Chairman of the FIDE Trainer s Commission The FIDE President has decided to appoint GM Mikhail Kobalia (Russia) as the new Chairman of the FIDE Trainers Commission. Born in 1978, Kobalia is a Grandmaster since 1996, and winner of multiple events, like the Russian under 20 Championship (1998), the Chigorin Memorial (1999), Rector s Cup (Kharkov, 2002), Biel Open (2005), Arctic Cup (2010).  As a coach, Kobalia was a member of Garry Kasparov s team during 2000-2003. He was also the Trainer of the Russian Women s Team in 2007-2009, and during this period the team twice finished second in the Team World Championships (Yekaterinburg 2007, Ninbo 2009) and won the European championship (Greece 2007). As of recent, he has been the Chief Junior Trainer for the Russian Chess Federation, as well as the Secretary and Youth Director of the Event s Commission, where he made an invaluable contribution thanks to his vast experience.
