Court cancels case against al Qaeda suspect after no evidence found July 13, 2021 An anti-terrorism court directed the police on Monday to conduct an inquiry before lodging an FIR on the basis on an intelligence report by a federal agency. The ATC-XII judge also cancelled the case lodged against Asif Zaheer for allegedly being a fundraiser for proscribed militant organisation al Qaeda after no evidence was found against him during the investigation. Zaheer was booked by the Counter-Terrorism Department under sections 11-H, 11-N and 11-F(i)(ii) of the Anti-Terrorism Act on March 26, 2020 when he had already been in custody of a law enforcement agency.

Online ISLAMABAD: A gun-toting man was arrested after he started walking on Constitution Avenue in front of Parliament House on Monday, police said. The suspect reached the high security area on a motorcycle at noon. He was carrying a pistol and a dagger. He walked on the road in front of Parliament House waving the pistol in one hand and the dagger in the other. The suspect also chanted anti-government slogans. Secretariat Police Station House Officer (SHO) Khurram Shahzad said after getting information police reached the spot within five minutes and surrounded him from some distance. The police officials tried to engage him in talks during which commandos grabbed and overpowered him.
