David Lloyd furious as Ahmedabad pitch rated average by ICC: The wicket disintegrated from ball one India Today Web Desk
Cricketer turned commentator David Lloyd has questioned the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the governing council rated the Ahmedabad pitch for the 3rd Test as average . The ICC, on Sunday (March 14), rated the much-criticised pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium as average . Apart from Lloyd, other former England cricketers including Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook had also criticised the wicket in Motera.
The 3rd Test between India and England, which was played with the Pink Ball, was wrapped up inside two days as England suffered a crushing defeat by 10 wickets. Meanwhile, the pitch at the SCG for the third Test between India and Australia was also rated average. On the other hand, the wicket used for the 4th Test between India and England, which was played at the same venue as the 3rd Test, was rated Good .
KOHLI SHOULD GET A THREE-TEST BAN
No word of any disciplinary action against Virat Kohli then? I chuckle and I despair. Cricket is so archaic. The captain of a national team is allowed to criticise, berate, intimidate and ridicule an official on the pitch.
And he was allowed to carry on playing on in the second Test! In any other sport, he would have been sent off the field. Kohli certainly shouldn t be playing in Ahmedabad next week.
All it would take to show the public the severity of any offence is the introduction of yellow and red cards. This was a straight red which would mean he misses the next three Tests. The lack of any action from match referee Javagal Srinath sitting there in his nice air-conditioned room beggars belief. Three and a half days and he has said nothing.

Steve Smith and current skipper
Tim Paine were both blasted on social media in the aftermath of the third Test against India in Sydney on Monday.
With the Australian attack blunted for large parts of the fifth and final day, tensions began running high.
Towards the end of the day, Paine was engaged in a nasty exchange of words with India s Ravichandran Ashwin, who finished 39 not out (off 128 balls).
After Ashwin pulled away from the crease as Nathan Lyon was about to bowl, Paine began sledging him.
It seemed innocent enough, but Paine ended with the words: At least my team-mates like me, d head.
