And there is concern that some of the 123 public libraries across the country that remain locked will not return. Some have not opened their doors in more than a year, and many areas are only offering reduced or remote services such as click and collect. The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) said there was concern some services may never reopen. The organisation believes libraries will play a vital role in helping some of society s most vulnerable people recover from the pandemic.

College libraries in the north and north-east receive funding for innovative projects

Something went wrong - please try again later. Sign Up Two college libraries in the north and north-east have been awarded a total of nearly £9,000 to combat the impact of Covid-19. North East College in Aberdeen and Lews Castle College in Stornoway are among the four projects in Scotland to receive grants from the Innovation and Development Fund (IDF). Distributed by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), the scheme aims to help libraries at further and higher institutions develop creative and experimental approaches to deliver their services.

Glasgow library given financial boost for outreach project A LIBRARY has been given a £6000 boost to help it cope with challenges created by the pandemic.  Glasgow University Law library received the funds to start up a community outreach project in partnership with City of Glasgow College and Clydebank High School. It will create a law book library that will support pupils and college students in pursuing a law career. Four projects from across Scotland will receive grants from the Innovation and Development Fund (IDF), which is administered by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC).  Chief executive of SLIC Pamela Tulloch believes the funds will help fresh, and current services evolve .
