New Delhi [India], April 28 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday condoled the demise of Padma Shree and Padma Bhushan awardee, eminent litterateur Manoj Das from Odisha.
Taking to Twitter, the President said that the demise of Das is a huge loss to the world of Odia and English writing. The passing of Manoj Das is a huge loss to the world of Odia and English writing. His towering stature as a fiction writer, his simplicity and spirituality gave him a unique identity. A Padma Bhushan, he was given many prestigious awards. My condolences to his family and admirers, he tweeted.

Priyanka Mohite, the 26-year old lady from Satara, Maharashtra has become the first Indian woman to scale Mt Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain in the world. She achieved the feat on April 16, 2021.
Priyanka had earlier scaled Mt Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,485 meters. She holds the record of being the first Indian woman to scale Mt Makalu in May 2019.

Guwahati: Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has set a new world record on Saturday by lifting 119 kg in clean and jerk at the Asian Weightlifting Championship held at Taskent, Uzbekistan. She bagged the bronze medal at the event.
She created a new world record and improved on her own national record of 118 kg. She lifted a total of 205 kg (86 kg snatch + 119 kg Clean and Jerk) at the event in Tashkent. She also confirmed her Tokyo Olympic spot as she has now competed in the six mandatory qualifying events.

Popular Tamil comedian Vivekh dies
The 59-year-old comedian died in the early hours, SIMS Hospital vice president Dr Raju Sivasamy said.
The actor is survived by wife, two daughters and years ago, Vivekh’s teenager son had died.
On Friday, the actor suffered a cardiac arrest due to acute coronary syndrome and he was treated for it and put on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation support.
Vivekh was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by his family.
The comedian, who has acted in over 200 films is noted for his work on the environmental protection front and he actively campaigned and involved himself in planting saplings and afforestation.

Veteran Tamil actor Vivekh passed away in a Chennai hospital early on Saturday morning following a cardiac arrest. He was 59.
The actor was admitted to the intensive care unit of a Chennai hospital on Friday after he suffered a heart attack. A medical bulletin said he underwent an “emergency coronary angiogram followed by angioplasty”.
Moments after he was admitted, there were claims that his illness was linked to him receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. However, the Tamil Nadu Health Department dispelled the rumours. Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said around 830 people were administered the vaccine at the same hospital along with Vivekh and all of them were fine.
