Rawalpindi: The skies over the cantonment board localities in Rawalpindi were dotted with kites of all shapes and sizes as the citizens violated the ban on kite flying and celebrated the festival on Thursday night and Friday.
Particularly, the residents of Lal Kurti, Dehri Hasanabad, Tench Bhatta, Adra, Defense Road, Tulsa, Bakramandi, New Lalazar, Kiani Road, Dhok Syedan, Misriyal and Adiala Road celebrated the ‘Basant’.
The kite flyers were also using aerial firing freely and listening songs on high volume on the occasion.
On the other hand, police teams arrested 113 violators and recovered over 7,000 kites including dozens of rolls of chemical stings here on Friday.

The citizens have urged the concerned authorities to strictly implement the ban on kite flying so road accidents and loss of human lives can be avoided.

Rawalpindi : The ban on kite flying and use of metallic strings was openly being violated in several city and cantonment areas. The residents of the city have expressed concern over kite-flying and use of metallic strings for the purpose.
Kite-flying continued in various areas of the city, including Peoples Colony, Tench Bhatta, Dhoke Syedan, Kiani Road, Dhoke Chaudharian, Adyala Road, Bakra Mandi, Masrial, Committee Chowk, Arya Mohala, Ratta Amral, Sadiqabad, New Katarian, Bani, Pirwadhai and several other areas.
Kite flying is observed despite ban specially, on Fridays and Sundays and the city administration had failed to implement a complete ban on the activity so far.
Khanpur canal desilting from today

Rawalpindi : Khanpur canal desilting project will be launched today (Monday) and water supply from the dam to cantonment areas will remain suspended for 10 days therefore the residents have been advised to use water carefully.
RCB spokesman, Qaiser Mahmood talking to this agency informed that the project would be completed till February 8 but, the water supply from the dam would become normal by February 15. He asked the residents to use water carefully, store water, and not waste it to cover up the entire period of 10 to 15 days.
He said the board would try to meet water demand through tube wells.

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has accelerated its ongoing campaign against defaulters of property tax, water charges, Transfer of Immovable Property (TIP) and trade taxes and collected over Rs866 million during the last seven months, a spokesperson shared on Wednesday.
The official mentioned that the board collected over Rs657 million in House Tax, Water and Conservancy charges, over Rs197 million in TIP taxes and over Rs12.7 million in Trade License Fee and Professional Taxes from defaulters.
The RCB teams on the directives of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Umar Farooq were in the process of conducting raids in different areas to take action against the defaulters.
