28 delta variant cases detected in Rawalpindi July 10, 2021 Rawalpindi : As many as 28 persons have been diagnosed with delta variant (B.1.617.2) of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district in at least 10 localities and the district health authorities have already recommended the concerned authorities to keep the infected persons under strict quarantine to check further spread of the variant, first detected in India earlier this year that is more transmissible than contemporary lineages of SARS-COV-2 (in general COVID-19) variants. It is important that the WHO has already categorized delta variant as a variant of concern after observing its significantly increased transmissibility and a growing number of countries reporting outbreaks associated with this variant.

Reuters/File RAWALPINDI: As many as 15 people were diagnosed with the delta variant of Covid-19 in the Rawalpindi district, said Divisional Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah on Thursday. He asked the health authority to take precautionary measures and urged the citizens to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible to avoid further spread of the virus. “All government employees should submit their vaccination certificate by July 15 otherwise their salaries will be stopped,” he stated this at a meeting held to review the Covid-19 situation.

RAWALPINDI: The sizzling heat and continuous water shortage have made the lives of residents miserable. The residents of cantonment areas including Chur Chowk, Afshan Colony, Tench Bhatta, Meharabad, Habib Colony, Dhoke Hafiz and Misrial Road lodged complaints with the civic agencies about water shortage. Saleem Ahmed, a resident of Afshan Colony, said they had been facing watershortage since the start of the summer season. He said Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) charged the residents for water every month but supplied the basic commodity for half an hour after two days. Sajid Khan, a resident of Tench Bhatta, said that there was a dire need to arrange waterfor the residents as they had to go to other colonies to fetch water.
