LGBTQIA+ exhibit now open

An LGBTQIA+ history exhibit at Texas A&M is now open to the public to view historical pieces as well as personal stories. “Coming Out Together to Share our History: LGBTQIA+ Collections in College Station, Houston, and Beyond” will be displayed at the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives until Dec. 16, according to a press release from Texas A&M University Libraries. The exhibit will feature pieces from The Banner Project and paraphernalia from the Houston bar Mary’s, along with other showcases. “Cushing Library has drawn from their extensive LGBTQIA+ collections to add memorabilia from various LGBTQIA+ events like the 1993 March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation, a copy of The Intersexes, the first English language defense of the LGBTQIA+ community and other materials from their various LGBTQIA+ collections,” the press release reads.

Norquay Banner Project on Main Street will honour veterans

Each banner will be in honour of a specific service person with a connection to Norquay and district. It will include their name, era served, branch of service, photograph, and the name of the person(s), group, or business honouring them. The large five feet by 30-inch vinyl banners in full colour will be displayed on our Main Street light posts from late September to the end of November. The banner project started after a lot of research went into the types of brackets and frames used, as well as the types of materials used on the banners themselves. Tamera Hall from the Yorkton Legion Honour the Veterans committee gave us a lot of information to help us get this project started. Dale Mennie from the Kelvington Legion Veterans Banner group provided us with information. Most importantly, they let us borrow their pole bracket and metal frame. Reilly Project paver 2021 program under way | News, Sports, Jobs

Everyone thought a Reilly paver would be the perfect tribute for our classmate,” Jones said. (Submitted photo) Salem Preservation’s, Reilly Project paver began in 2011 and remains popular. All money raised has been reinvested back into stadium. Contributions include the east wall repainting, added trees and fencing along the west side of the Dedication Park area and the creation of the highly-successful Banner Project along Pershing Street. Located in front of the stadium, the banners honor those having a connection to Sebo (Reilly) Stadium who went on to success in their chosen fields. The Banner program will continue again 2022.
