JOHOR BARU: The third batch of 10 new Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) local councillors was sworn in here on Tuesday (May 4), a recovering stroke patient among them.
Pulai MCA secretary Teoh Hee Teck attended the ceremony in a wheelchair after suffering a minor stroke recently.
The 59-year-old recalled feeling weakness in his hands all of a sudden one day in March and was rushed to the hospital.
“After a check-up, the doctor informed me that I had suffered from a minor stroke. He also told me that I would be able to recover in two to three months, ” he said.

1st Judicial Family Court Judge Joyce Chernenko Wednesday administered the oath of office to Danny Dudley as interim mayor of Wellsburg as Dudley’s wife, Pamela, looked on. Dudley served as 1st Ward councilman until Tuesday, when he was appointed by fellow council members to fill the mayor’s seat, which was left vacant with the March 31 death of Sue Simonetti. Council is expected to select someone to serve the remainder of Dudley’s unexpired term at its May 11 meeting.
