It’s likely that the farm of the future will not only need to feed a lot more people, but it will have to do so with fewer environmental impacts, and that includes lowering the carbon footprint of the food system. Richard Waite is a senior research associate at the World Resources Institute. He says lowering this carbon footprint will mean reforestation, and more productivity needed from agriculture. BAU holds workshop on climate resilient crop varieties Staff Correspondent | Published: 00:59, Jun 04,2021     The inaugural workshop for a project on climate resilient crop varieties was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University on Thursday, said a press release. The project titled Adoption of Climate Resilient Crop Varieties in Selected Environmentally Vulnerable Areas of Bangladesh and Its Impact on Farm Productivity is funded by Krishi Gobeshona Foundation. The university’s agricultural economics department hosted the event, in which vice-chancellor Professor Lutful Hassan was the chief guest and the foundations’ executive director Jiban krishna Biswas was present as the chief patron. The chief discussant was Emeritus Professor and BAU’s former vice-chancellor MA Sattar Mandal.
