Seven Escondido schools have placed 188 students and staff on quarantine this month because of possible contact with positive cases on campus.
Since Feb. 1, a total of 158 students and 30 employees have been quarantined after other individuals in their classrooms tested positive for COVID-19. During that time, five people at Rose Elementary School tested positive, leading to quarantines of 25 students and five employees, according to the school dashboard.
There were also four positive cases at Farr Elementary School, resulting in quarantines of 44 students and five employees; three positive cases at Pioneer Elementary School, with 27 students and four staff members quarantined; and two positive cases at Mission Middle School, with 32 students and 10 staff members sent home. Two days after the Escondido Union School District returned to hybrid-model in-classroom teaching, 81 students and 18 staff members at four schools have been quarantined.
The members of the community were quarantined after seven different students tested positive at four different schools. According to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard:
Four of the positive cases are at Farr Elementary, leading to 44 students and 5 staff members being placed under quarantine
At Pioneer Elementary, 1 positive case has led to 9 students and 2 staff members being quarantined
At Rock Springs Elementary, 12 students have been quarantined as the result of 1 positive case.
