Chairman of the Senate Veteransâ Affairs Committee Jon Tester (D-MT) unveiled proposed legislation Tuesday that is intended to expand benefits and improve care for veterans suffering from toxic exposure.
20 The first week of April marked the beginning of National Public Health Week, a time to highlight all of the work done by public health professionals whose work is important in maintaining our health standards and quality of life, at Yokota Air Base.
While the primary focus of National Public Health Week is to promote the discussion of health awareness, education, and mindfulness, the public health flight is also using this as a chance to sharpen their skills and revitalize their flight.
“The National Association for Public Health started National Public Health Week in 1995,” said Senior Airman Amber King, 374th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron public health technician. “At its inception, the primary focus was to spread awareness about public health issues that affect people… obesity, tobacco use, or HIV prevention, for instance.”

Smith, Danny Glen, Sr.
Death: Friday, January 15, 2021 at the age of 72
Lt. Danny Glen Smith Sr., USN (Ret.), 72, loving husband, father of four children and grandfather to 13 grandchildren passed on to his eternal home during the early morning hours of January 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Danny was born on August 9, 1948 in Portales, NM, the oldest child of Ben William Smith and Francis Jo Short. As a child, he lived in various locations throughout New Mexico as his family moved in support of his father s career in road construction, the family eventually settling in Lubbock, Texas in 1960. After joining the Navy at the young age of 17, he would seek out the thrill of bull riding in the rodeo near NAS Imperial Beach. While stationed in California, Danny would meet the love of his life, Judee Gisele Giguere, at the Enlisted Club and they would be wed just 3 months later on March 24, 1969, in San Diego, CA. NGATN FOUNDATION 2021 SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Guard Association of Tennessee (NGATN) Foundation has allocated $29,000.00 for Scholarship grants for 2021. Deadline for applications is 1 February 2021. The three (3) types of Scholarships which may be awarded are as follows:
a. One (1) $4,000 (MG Gus Hargett) Scholarship is earmarked exclusively for an active member of the Tennessee National Guard and an Active Annual or Life Member of NGATN. This scholarship can be awarded for Graduate level classes leading to a Masters or Doctoral degree.
b. One (1) $4,000 Legacy Scholarship is earmarked exclusively for an active member of the Tennessee National Guard whose parent or parents were (or are still serving) as members of the Tennessee National Guard. In addition, the applicant must be an Active Annual Member of NGATN or the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Tennessee EANGTN.
