Phil Springer maneuvers his knobby but agile fingers across the keys of the upright piano in his daughter’s living room and croons the opening lines of the Christmas song so sexy that when Eartha Kitt recorded it for the first time in 1953 it was banned in parts of the South:
Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree / for me / Been an awful good girl / Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
At 91, his voice might not purr like Kitt’s did it’s more an affectionate bark but Springer, who co-wrote the familiar tune, makes up for it in glee.

Typically you would not put Eurovision and the United States in the same sentence. But more recently there are greater connections forming between with the United States of America and the Eurovision Song Contest.
In 2016 the Eurovision Song Contest was broadcast live in the United States for the first time on Logo TV. The 2016 Contest featured US singer Justin Timberlake as a special guest who performed his hits Rock Your Body and Can t Stop the Feeling! . More recently the queen of pop, Madonna, was a guest performer at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv.

Christmas mood. Perhaps you want to trim the tree or wrap presents or indulge in cookies and eggnog. You want the full throwback experience, but you don’t have any Christmas music to spin on your turntable, and you don’t want to hear the same old stuff from the local holiday-hits station. What now? One of the best parts of collecting Christmas music is that you can obtain a good collection for not a lot of money. Except for music that is collectible for other reasons for example, doo-wop, punk/alternative, audiophile reissues, 1990s vinyl most Christmas albums are common and cheap. Dale Sheets
During his 70-year career, he helped guide the careers of Bob Newhart, Bob Barker, Mel Tormé and Vic Damone.
Dale Sheets, the onetime right-hand man for Lew Wasserman at MCA and Universal who went on to serve as the personal manager for such singers as Mel Tormé, Vic Damone and Patti Page, has died. He was 91.
Sheets died Monday in Los Angeles of heart failure, his longtime family friend and former business associate Rob Wilcox announced.
In 1954, Sheets was working at United Television Programs when the company was acquired by MCA, and Wasserman became his boss. A year later, at age 25, he was the youngest vice president in MCA history.
